Inspiration John Lennon: the key to life?

I love this quote – we’re not taught everything at school, there can be a different way to look at things. What’s inspired you over the years and is the key to life for you?

  1. I love this quote too.

What’s inspired me over the years? Oh gosh, lots of stuff. Reading Joseph Campbell, Hakim Bey, Guy Debord/the Situationist … etc.

Personally, I get bored way too easily and need constant stimuli and adventure to stay inspired.

As for the key to life? I dunno. I guess it’s different for everybody. But I think it feels good to maximize my time with the people I love most and to find ways to let them know how much I appreciate them.

    • Thanks Chris. I’ll check out some of those people.
I like J Campbell’s philosophy ‘follow your bliss’.
I’m attending some talks this weekend by The Choice Point Movement – about neuroscience, re-programming our minds and ultimately our identity (i.e. following your bliss).
Pretty deep and very inspiring. Have to meet for lunch the next few weeks and chat.

  2. I absolutely love this quote too.
What inspired me mostly throughout the years are shared ‘experiences’:
    * listening to others share their stories
    * learning about other cultures, cuisine, languages, art
I am also completely inspired by passionate people. People who apply time and dedication to doing things they love. Believing in their dreams and going for it full heartedly.
Personally I believe the key to life is doing things with love – sharing with others: happiness, experiences, time, love.

    • Sharing with others and experiences are key – I love this from John Lennon too
‘You can be aware of your own energy and all the energy that’s around you. All the energy is God.
Your own energy and their energy, whether doing god-like things or ungodly things.
It’s all like one big jelly. We’re all in the big jelly’
Better to do things with passion and love and generate positive energy for the jelly!

  3. That’s great stuff. Keep an eye out for Joseph Campbell – The Power of Myth. It’s a great series of interviews with Campbell conducted by Bill Moyers. Well worth a watch! In fact, it’s been ages since I watched that. I could probably use a refresher course.
